Aparajita / Blue Pea Flower

Aparajita, the little blue and white flower, has a name that means 'undefeated' or 'invincible' in Sanskrit. In Hindu tradition, it is associated with Goddess Durga and the triumph of good over evil, making it an essential flower to find its way into Durga Puja offerings.

The blue and white of the Aparajita are reflected here in ink-blue Iolite briolettes and silver, with a vintage bead at the centre, a precious find from Rajasthan.

I love how the deep blue of the Iolite sits against the old silver and the intricate vintage bead — there is something quietly striking about the combination. Festive enough for Puja, but certainly not confined to it.
